I've been to this location several times and attended some of their classes. Be aware, the place is generally jammed full of people on the weekends and you may have to look around or a wait a bit to get help, but that is because every question you ask is fully answered, you're walked to the location of the product, if an employee doesn't know the answer they get it, and the employees are all generally friendly. As for the classes, they are mostly taught by employees who pursue the topic as a hobby in their personal time so they have real world knowledge. Depending on the class there is generally a hands-on portion where you can try out the gear that may have been discussed. I know this is to encourage you to buy a product, but they don't active try to sell anything. They mostly just present options and discuss the pros/cons of the item, how to use it and how to care for it. This has helped me make sure I get what I need the first time and that I don't end up with a closet full of things I thought I needed.
I had a great experience returning a couple of items. The cashier went above and beyond to help me out! I love perusing the equipment and gear here and just get lost in a nature lover's wonderland.
Great selection for campers and hikers but no rv parking I had to park in the loading dock around back. Prices are very high.
The employees on the sales floor were super helpful. However, The cashiers are very slow. They don't seem to know how to run the register yet. I ordered something on the REI website, went to go pick it up inside the store, the ladies made me wait for my package because they didn't know how to take it out of their system. Even though it had already been paid for online, they said they did not know how to take it out of their system. Instead of Letting me take my package and leave ,since it already had been paid for, they made me wait there for over 5 minutes. Also, don't expect things to be marked down much on the clearance rack. The hisghest discount in the store was only 20%. I will be doing my shopping on the REI website, better sales, deals, and option. I would rather pay a shipping fee than deal with incompetent cashiers who are rude.
As usual very well stocked REI. Knowledgable staff available but not in your face. I always find what l want there.
