Their Bite 30 menu looks cool. And we totally understand that sometimes kitchens run out of something. But a manager is supposed to figure out a way to make it right. A manager is supposed to want the business. And in this case, this guy did nothing at all, and really, seemed to be encouraging us to leave. So we did. On a Monday. Bad day for restaurants. There we were wanting to spend a couple hundred bucks.... I wonder if his manager knows that he runs off business....
Our waiter was pretty condescending too and tried to upsell which was the first time I've ever experienced that at a restaurant. Instead of feeling welcomed we just dreaded every second we interacted with him.
You know those places that charge $3 a roll and you get what you pay for? That's the quality of the sushi here but you're paying $12+ a roll instead.
Fantastic sushi! Try the Mango Tango and Crunchy Hako rolls. Service was impeccable.
We went there on a Monday for the Bite 30 menu (fixed price, three-course meal). Sadly, the Assistant Manager who greeted us wasn't appropriate or welcoming at all. First thing he did was tell us that there were no more options for desert. I looked at him blankly, wondering what he would say next, since desert is to be one of the included courses. Finally I asked if they could do something, a scoop of ice cream, anything really. He said, no. His attitude and body language were clear: he wasn't interested in trying to figure something out; he couldn't care less if we stayed or left, so we left.
This is the absolute best Sushi in Central Florida! Located on park avenue- their take on Japanese fusion is as creative as it is delicious. Service has always been excellent, and the prices are in line with most other sushi bars. A great spot for special occasions too!
The rolls are tiny and sound quirky and exciting on the menu but they were underwhelming or just strange. As someone who loves sushi and is an adventurous eater, this place was so disappointing and not worth it.
I don't get the high ratings for this place unless it recently dropped off, I wouldn't recommend Umi, especially since we laughed off how bad the whole experience was!
Service was terrible + food poisoning. We went for the magical dining month menu, our server sat us with regular menus and left before we could say we wanted magical dining month menus. Sat there for maybe 10 minutes waiting for our server to come back, and he finally did come back to take our drink orders (up until then we had been sitting there without water or anything). Again, he rushed off before we can say anything about needing different menus. It was probably another 10 before we got water and our drinks, and we were finally able to tell him we needed different menus. At this point we had been looking at the menus online, so we knew what appetizer we wanted. I tried to get the order for the appetizer in, and just needed to ask if the deal was for two appetizers or for one, and he goes "you know what, let me just get you the menus" and grabbed us the menus we were already looking at online and disappeared for another 5 minutes. He came back, took our order, and left. My timeline might not be exact, but it was definitely 40 minutes before we got any of our courses, and one of them was just miso soup. When food DID start to arrive, it got pretty ridiculous. Another server brought out our appetizers, which is supposed to be course number 2 out of 4. I pointed this out and she looked shocked that we hadn't received food up until that point. A couple minutes later, our server brings us soup and doesn't even set my soup down in front of me. He set them BOTH on one side of the table even though I had room. A few seconds later our main course comes out! So we're sitting there at this tiny table for 2 with 3/4 courses there all at once. I rushed through the soup and a server came to put the rest of our entrees on the already packed table. Really uncomfortable for everyone. Another server took our dessert order. Pretty sure we saw other servers and buspeople more often than we saw our server. The food wasn't bad, except that it was. I got food poisoning a few hours later. The end.
We walked up the road to Wine Room and had great beers and charcuterie, wonderful service, and a great evening.
Not cool customer service at all.
